Kenneth Branagh and Ruth Wilson, with Helena Bonham Carter, accompany Harry, Ron and Hermione through the trapdoor, where magic and friendships are tested.

Sir Kenneth Branagh has garnered international acclaim for his work on the stage and screen. A highly respected actor, director, writer and producer, he is the recipient of numerous awards, including five BAFTAS, two Olivier Awards, an Emmy Award and has been nominated for five Academy Awards and four Golden Globes. He portrayed the memorably eccentric Gilderoy Lockhart in *Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.*

Ruth Wilson’s acting work transcends film, TV and theatre and she is a two-time Olivier Award winner. She was awarded the Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Television Series Drama for her starring role in the Showtime drama, *The Affair*. She also played prominent roles in the television dramas *Jane Eyre, Luther, Mrs Wilson*, and most recently, *His Dark Materials*. 

Helena Bonham Carter’s hugely eclectic career spans film, television and theatre, tackling everything from Shakespeare and period dramas, to musicals and fantasy epics. She has been nominated for numerous acting accolades, including two Academy Awards for *The Wings of the Dove* and *The King’s Speech*. For her work in the latter, she won the BAFTA award for Best Actress in a Supporting Role in 2010. This is not Helena’s first foray into the  Wizarding World – she famously portrayed Bellatrix Lestrange in the Harry Potter films!

But imagine that you are the Hogwarts teacher in charge of their punishment. What detention will you give them? Writing lines with Snape? Detention with the Bloody Baron? Or something worse? Your secret quest is to study the other members of your household and write down some of their bad habits. Do they bite their fingernails? Do they whistle annoying tunes? Do they leave the fridge open? When you’ve noted these down, decide how many points they should lose for each bad habit e.g. minus twenty points for picking their nose. Study their bad habits for one day and then tell them at the end who has lost the most points!__

Today, it’s a Malfoy family reunion as the actors who portrayed Lucius Malfoy, Draco Malfoy and Narcissa Malfoy join forces to read Chapter Fourteen. That’s right, Jason Isaacs, Tom Felton and Helen McCrory introduce us to Norbert, Hagrid’s rather problematic new pet, in Chapter Fourteen. But Norbert doesn’t stay secret for long...

Jason Isaacs loves an evil wig. Beyond his portrayal of luscious blonde Death Eater Lucius Malfoy, his hair has been augmented as a ringleted Captain Hook in *Peter Pan* and pony-tailed psychopath Colonel Tavington in *The Patriot*. His career has spanned film, TV, theatre, animated movies and video games and has seen him nominated for or winning a BAFTA, Golden Globe, Emmy, Satellite, Critic’s Choice, Saturn and many other awards. He can currently be seen online in *The OA, The Dark Crystal, Star Trek: Discovery*, *Star Wars Rebels* and *Scoob!* and was most recently seen in cinemas in *The Death of Stalin* and *Hotel Mumbai.*

Jason had this say about his relationship with reading Harry Potter.

‘I’ll confess that when I was first asked to play Lucius I hadn’t read any of the books,’ he said. ‘I was confused why so many of my adult friends - not to mention everyone on the tube - were reading children’s books. I cracked open the first one just to get a flavour and lost myself in a world that, luckily, I’ve never had to leave. Decades later my life is still enriched not just by the intoxicating magic of Jo’s stories and the timelessly human fears and triumphs they bring to life, but by getting to meet and hear from the endless tides of people (and now their kids) whose lives were profoundly affected - sometimes literally saved - by the struggles, love and friendship of Harry, Ron, Hermione and, mostly, obviously, the inspiring and heart-warming heroism of the entire Malfoy family. Or maybe I’m biased...’

Tom Felton played Harry’s nemesis, Draco Malfoy, in all eight Harry Potter films. Tom’s other film credits include *A United Kingdom*, *Rise of the Planet of the Apes* and *Ophelia*, while his recent TV roles include *The Flash* and YouTube series, *Origin*. Tom also created a BBC documentary on Harry Potter fandom called *Meet the Superfans* in 2015.

Helen McCrory, who portrayed Draco’s mother, Narcissa Malfoy in the Harry Potter series, completes Chapter Fourteen for us. Helen’s acting work has traversed film (*The Queen, Skyfall, A Little Chaos*) TV, (*Peaky Blinders, Penny Dreadful, Quiz*) and theatre (*As You Like It, Medea, The Deep Blue Sea*). The actor was awarded an OBE in the 2017 New Year Honours.

We hear/see Charlie’s reply in this chapter, but we don’t know exactly what Ron said to his brother. Write a letter to Charlie Weasley, pretending you’re Ron asking for help with Norbert. Remember to explain what’s been going on at Hogwarts! Charlie probably doesn’t know much about Harry or Hermione so you might want to tell him about them too ...__

That’s like a second to Nicolas Flamel.’ Your secret task is to ask someone (ideally a parent or guardian) in your household how old they are. You need to reply, ‘That’s not old. That’s like a second to Nicolas Flamel.’ When they look confused, tell them that Nicolas Flamel is six hundred and sixty-five years old, so they have nothing to worry about!__

So here we are, the final chapter. A huge thank you for joining us on this extra special read-along journey, and to all of our guest narrators. Especially for your Hagrid impressions. We particularly enjoyed all of those. 

For the last instalment, three Harry Potter-loving families take on the final chapter of *Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone/Sorcerer’s Stone*, ‘The Man with Two Faces’, with a surprise cameo closing things off for you. 

So, say hello to the Patels, from London, the Gaffneys from Brooklyn and the McKennas from Belfast! 

First, we have the Patels, helmed by mum and dad, Swetha and Savan, with their two children, Sona (10) and Devan (8). 

On joining Harry Potter At Home, the Patels said: 

'Harry Potter is a world of ingenuity and adventure - to be able to share the stories as a family time and again (we have read the books so many times now and watched the movies innumerable times), is invaluable - the stories never get old and its lovely to see the children feel like they can really relate to the stories and find inspiration within them to be bold and adventurous and to always expect the unexpected.' 

Next up, you’ll meet the the Gaffneys, comprised of mum and dad, Kym and Brian, and their two boys, John (11) and James (9). 

 ‘For Team Gaffney, Potter conveys that living a full life is truly accessible through choice and the power of imagination!’ the family said. ‘We see within the characters the importance of acknowledging and embracing one another's diverse gifts. Finally, we should always remember that through life's ups & downs that you will always have the support and love of good friends & family.’


Rounding things off, we have the McKennas, with Sinead, Stephen, and their three children, Olivia (9), Stephen Jr. (7) and Pauric (6). 

‘Harry Potter means quality family time together,’ Sinead told us. ‘With very busy lives, reading together was not a priority but Harry Potter has changed that and brought us back together! Harry Potter means adventure, imagination, a world of magic and a love of reading!’

Well said. And we hope you’ve had just as much fun as our narrators have had reading along with Harry’s first adventure at home too!

## Harry Potter At Home 

Harry Potter At Home is our way of bringing the magic into people’s homes, casting a Banishing Charm on boredom. These special video readings are just one of the many things you can do at home with us, whether alone or with your friends or family. Our new Harry Potter At Home project is very much a team effort, combining the resources of Harry Potter UK and US publishers Bloomsbury and Scholastic, Pottermore Publishing, Warner Bros., leading spoken-word producer and provider Audible, our numerous library suppliers, library supplier OverDrive, streaming platform Spotify, and of course, our very own magic-makers here at WizardingWorld.com.

*‘The pixies were electric blue and about eight inches high, with pointed faces and voices so shrill it was like listening to a lot of budgies arguing. The moment the cover had been removed, they had started jabbering and rocketing around, rattling the bars and pulling bizarre faces at the people nearest them.’*

Professor Lockhart set these Cornish pixies loose in a Defence Against the Dark Arts lesson! And unfortunately, he didn’t seem to know the spell to get them back into their cage. The lesson ended with Lockhart fleeing the classroom – after asking Harry, Ron and Hermione to sort them out for him!

We’re sure you’ll be much more careful when you’re creating this light up jar containing your very own Cornish pixie craft. But just remember not to underestimate this magical creature like Dean Thomas did! Watch the video and download the Cornish pixie templates below ...
